Shipley Donuts is a donut-chain with a history that dates back to 1936. Lawrence Shipley Sr. began making gourmet donuts that were cut by hand and served hot. At the time, he sold a dozen donuts for five cents. About 10 years later, the donuts hit the retail market. Shipley Donuts has been stealing the hearts of donut lovers ever since. And not just in Garland, Texas, but in more than 190 stores spread over several states. Their menu includes cake, yeast, and filled donuts. Plus, they sell kolaches, or fruit pastries, espresso drinks, and fruit smoothies.
