The Museum of the Albemarle takes advantage of the waterfront vista of Elizabeth City and is home to facilities and exhibits that provide visitors with an opportunity to experience northeastern North Carolina’s general history. A chronological historical overview of this region of the state is showcased along the expansive main gallery. Graphics and artifacts illustrate and highlight the area’s ecology and geography, as well as provide perspectives on the cultural development of the region over ten thousand years. The Museum of the Albemarle is open to the public Monday to Saturday from 9:00am until 5:00pm.
