The Old Exchange Building and the Provost Dungeon were built in the 1760’s and have many stories to tell about the early history of Charleston. Most children would probably enjoy hearing a concise version of the city’s history on a docent-led tour of the interesting building which takes just 30 minutes and is conducted by a guide in period costume. Of course, older children love tales of ghosts and ghouls and would enjoy joining one of the Ghosts of Charleston Tours which is offered after dark and features stories about the ghosts of the poor souls left to rot in the Provosts Dungeon, complete with ghostly sound effects.
