The Saint Patrick's Roman Catholic Church provides services for the liturgical, sacramental, and spiritual needs of Smithtown’s Catholic community, as well as surrounding communities within Suffolk County along the north shore of New York’s Long Island. The parish of the church began during the middle of the 1830’s in the Smithtown/Hauppauge area and began to expand its parish rapidly soon after. Masses were first held inside local farmhouses, with Saint Patrick's Roman Catholic Church becoming a full parish much later in 1952, originally serving as a “mission church.” The church today helps support the vibrant community, offering many services.
