Mayor Carl T. Langford Park and Center is a lovely natural oasis in Orlando's downtown district, named in honor of the city's beloved mayor between 1967 and 1980. The park is lined with beautiful mature oak trees, creating plenty of shade to escape from the heat during the summer months. Spacious sidewalks and walking paths make for great spots for strolling and dog walking throughout the day. Basketball and tennis courts are available for community use, along with a variety of day-use picnic sites offering barbecue grills and covered pavilions. The park's neighborhood center is open to the public Mondays through Fridays, offering a public-use computer lab and game room. A gazebo and a multipurpose room at the neighborhood center are available for community special event rental, including birthday party packages for young children wishing to celebrate their birthday parties at the park. Other amenities include children's playgrounds for older and younger children, offering classic amusements such as swings and slides.
