Guernsey Park is named in honor of pioneer-era banker Joseph L. Guernsey, who founded the Florida Mortgage Service and the Orlando Federal Savings and Loan Association following his service in WWII. Guernsey was best known throughout the Orlando region in the 20th century as the namesake of the Guernsey Good Citizenship Cup, an annual award presented to high schoolers displaying civic excellence. The charming open space park is tucked away in a quiet Orlando neighborhood, making it a great safe spot for visitors to bring their children and their well-behaved pets on leashes. Grassy open lawns provide ample space for pick-up sporting games, while day-use picnic sites are well shaded by majestic trees. A small creek runs through the park, traversed by a walking path and a picturesque footbridge.
