Greenwood Urban Wetlands is a gorgeous 19-acre natural preserve in downtown Orlando, originally designated in 1991 to protect the city's native wildlife. The park, which is located adjacent to Greenwood Cemetery and Thornton and Delaney Parks, is anchored around a pristine lake surrounded by majestic cypress trees, flanked by pathways and quaint bridges for strolling through the scenery. Ample shade throughout the park makes it a great spot to frequent on hot summer days. Day-use picnic tables are scattered throughout the park for stopping and enjoying lunches or conversation. Dogs are welcome at the park on leashes, with amenities such as waste bags and dog-sized water fountains provided for four-legged friends. A dog memorial at the park also commemorates lost pets, allowing area residents to purchase memorial space for a nominal fee.
