Review:

Tucked away in the northeastern corner of the old city, the Church of Saint Nicholas Orphanos is a 14th-century Byzantine structure that was originally part of a monastery.

The exterior of the church is quite plain at first sight, but the inside is a different story entirely. In fact, the church is best known for its stunning frescoes, which were uncovered in the late 1950s and decorate almost every surface inside the church. Photos are not permitted inside, but after marveling at the artwork, visitors are welcome to relax and take photos in the beautiful gardens that surround the building.
