Review:

Although not as well-known as many of the other tourist attractions in Thessaloniki, Alaca Imaret is one of the city's most beautiful hidden gems.

Built by the Ottomans in the 15th century, the structure is one of few mosques in the city that hasn't been converted into a church.

The interior walls and domed ceiling were decorated with exquisite, colorful paintings and mosaics, and although some haven't been well-preserved, they're still an excellent reason to pay this historical site a visit. Lucky visitors will also stumble across one of the temporary exhibitions or cultural activities held here by the city.
