La Isla has served up Hoboken's most authentic Cuban cuisine since 1970, known as a cult favorite for its excellent Sunday brunch specials and budget Cuban-style classics. The intimate restaurant serves up traditional Cuban plates such as bistek de pollo, salmon a la parrilla, tasajo con boniato, and camarones enchilado throughout lunch and dinner hours, complemented by traditional sides like fried plantains and pigeon pea rice. Pressed Cuban sandwich options include churrasco sandwiches, croqueta preparadas, and Havana triple decker clubs, complemented by a menu of shareable appetizers like empanadas and yuca fritas. Brunch delicacies range from chorizo omelettes to guava-stuffed French toast. While the restaurant does not have a liquor license, diners are welcome to bring their own beverages to enjoy with all meals.
