As one of the most visited castles in Scotland, Caerlaverock Castle is easily recognizable thanks to its distinctive triangular shape and moat. The castle is located in Caerlaverock National Nature Reserve, making it easy for visitors to enhance their trip with a peaceful stroll on one of the nature trails or a bit of bird-watching. Highlights of the estate include siege warfare exhibits, a children's playground, a tearoom, and a shop that sells homemade meals and locally made jams. Visitors are welcome at the castle year-round. Children under the age of 16 must be accompanied by an adult.
