The King-Tisdell Cottage Foundation operates the original King-Tisdell Cottage museum site and The Beach Institute African-American Cultural Center in Savannah, Georgia.
The Beach Institute is an award-winning, family-friendly center where visitors can come and explore over 150 years of African-American history, preservation, and arts.
Savannah’s flagship museum, children and adults will be treated to permanent collection exhibits, traveling exhibitions, live performances, and lecture series that highlight African-American artists.
Visitors will also want to explore the preserved African-American culture within the King-Tisdell Cottage, where they’ll find historic neighborhood maps indicating where black communities were during the Jim Crow era. No trip to Savannah would be complete without a stop at these two must-see attractions.
