The Peaks of Otter Campground is situated between two dominating mountain bases within Virginia’s rolling hills near Bedford. Campsites here are shaded by umbrellas of thick trees and include fire rings with grills, lantern poles, and picnic tables. The campground also provides modern amenities, such as a dump station, drinking water, and flush toilets. There’s almost always a campsite available at Peaks of Otter, with more than sixty sites offered with advance reservation and nearly eighty available on a first-come, first-served basis. One of the park’s biggest attractions is the 24-acre, well-stocked Abbott Lake, offering fishing opportunities for bluegill and smallmouth bass.
