The George Washington And Jefferson National Forests are home to miles of streams, a large portion of the country’s Appalachian Trail, and serve as a mecca for numerous outdoor activities. Bass fishing and kayaking are popular activities at Sherando Lake, and the millions of acres of wilderness offer miles upon miles of hiking trails. Camping is also quiet an easy activity to find in the two national forests, which include both all-inclusive and primitive campgrounds within the boundaries and around the George Washington and Jefferson National Forests. In fact, there are more than forty campgrounds available, divided up into eight different camping districts.
