Review & FAQ:
The Museum of the Occupation of Latvia was established in 1993 and was soon recognized as a historic educational institution. The museum archives important documents, preserves and exhibits artifacts, and educates the public on the 51 years, from 1940 to 1991, in which Latvia was occupied by the USSR and Nazi Germany. The museum has become so significant that it is included in the agenda when representatives from other countries visit. Visitors can go on guided tours and see the permanent museum collection as well as exhibits such as the “History of KGB Operations in Latvia,” among others.
