Review:
Oslo Cathedral , previously named Our Savior's Church, is the main, official cathedral for the Church of Norway Diocese of Oslo, as well as the parish church for the entire downtown Oslo. The Cathedral was consecrated in 1697, and was extensively renovated in 1950 and restored to its original baroque style. The Norwegian Government and Norwegian Royal Family use the cathedral for weddings and funerals.
The altar piece, pulpit and organ front with carvings of acanthus are original. The beautiful ceiling murals were painted by Hugo Lous Mohr and the stained glass windows were created by Emanuel Vigeland. "The bazaar halls" found all around the cathedral were built between 1841 and 1858. The church offers mass on weekdays and high mass on Sundays, and has frequent concerts.
