Located in the village of Gills Rock on the Door County peninsula, the Death's Door Maritime Museum documents the rich history of the area’s commercial fishing industry. Nestled on the shores of Porte des Mortes (Death’s Door), the museum features several informative exhibits, including a wooden fishing tug called Hope, a shipwreck and scuba diving exhibit, artifacts brought up from the bottom of Lake Michigan, and a beautiful bronze sculpture honoring commercial fishing in Northern Door. The Death’s Door Maritime Museum is open mid-May to mid-October.
