The Rundetaarn (Round Tower), is one of Copenhagen’s architectural gems dating back to the reign of Christian IV in the 17th century. The remarkable structure was originally built as an astronomical observatory and was part of the Trinitatis structure, which also included a church with a library above. Today you can walk up the amazing spiral ramp to reach the observation platform, which offers excellent views over the city and see the oldest working observatory in Europe. The Library Hall, which once housed the entire reference library of the Copenhagen University and was a favorite haunt of the author Hans Christian Andersen, is located above the church and now hosts a full calendar of exhibitions and concerts.
