Producing a surprisingly good harvest of wine grapes, the Vine Growers of Robolo planted their vines is an inhospitable, and barren landscape more than 40 years ago. They soon realized that this particular terroir produced wines of remarkable quality and formed the Cephalonia Robolo Co-operative in 1982 to promote their wines. Today visitors will find many vineyards hugging the sides of the mountain. The terrain totally excludes the use of mechanized farming methods and the vineyards are all hand-tended in the age-old tradition. The area produces a range of wines all of which showcase the distinct Robolo characteristics which include full-bodied flavor, a certain sharpness and unique acidity.
