Unlikely as it seems at first glance, Venice does have a beach. Lido Beach is located on an 11-km long barrier island in the Venice Lagoon.
The island is home to over 20,000 residents and boasts a long strip of very popular sandy beach. Visitors can easily get to Lido Beach in around 20 minutes by boarding a vaporetto (water taxi) or in about an hour by ferry. You can hire beach loungers and umbrellas and settle down to soak up some sun and swim.
The beach offers a great escape from hot summer temperatures in the city and there are plenty of cafes and bars for drinks and snacks.
