Considered by many to be the heart of the community, the Piazza delle Erbe is a place to meet, eat, and indulge in the many shops around the square.

During the time of the Roman Empire, this space once served as the town forum, today it still houses the city’s administration. It still features important civil buildings such as the Chamber of Commerce, the Casa dei Giudici or “Judges Hall”, and St. Mark’s Lion which is considered the symbol of Venice.

Perhaps the most notable feature of the Piazza is the statue and fountain at the heart of the square, the Madonna Verona. Literally translating to “My Lady Verona” this beautiful statue of a crowned woman atop a fountain is surrounded by vibrant frescoes, it stands a symbol for Verona itself.
