Built in the twelfth century and dedicated to the Virgin Mary under the title “Santa Maria Matricolare”, the Cathedral of Verona is a sight not to be missed. Duomo's humble facade only hints at its extravagant interior by the detailed sculptures that embellish it.

Having undergone multiple restorations over time, the cathedral stands as a mixture of Romanesque and Gothic styles with a Renaissance themed interior. From without it’s design shows a distinct Veronese touch with its striped pattern, and from within it is decorated by radiant Veronese Red marble.

These maroon pillars serve to frame the breath-taking paintings, sculptures, mosaics, and altars that comprise the cathedral.
