Review & FAQ:
Three Taverns Craft Brewery was the vision of founder Brian Purcell, who was inspired to pursue opening a Trappist-style brewery after a 1994 road trip through Belgium with friends. Following Purcell’s move to Decatur in 2005, he began to transition his homebrewing interest into a business venture, and in 2013, Three Taverns officially opened to the public, named after a former traveler’s rest spot mentioned in the Book of Acts. The brewery’s year-round offerings focus on New Monastic styles, including its Fortunatus barrel-aged sour ale, its Inceptus wild ale, its Brettannicus farmhouse ale, and its Feest Noel Belgian-style Christmas-spiced quad ale. Limited release ales and one-off Non-Orthodox series beers are also available at its Parlour brewery tasting room, which is open seven days a week.
