Limestone Creek Natural Area is a true gem in the eastern corridor of the Northeast Everglades Natural Area. It is located in Jupiter, Florida, around the corner from Florida’s Turnpike and is known for a grand stand of healthy pine flatwoods, which provide the entrance to 53 acres of protected land between the residential and commercial development in Jupiter. A paved trail runs through the woods to an observation deck and a fishing pier on the C-18 canal. Another trail, with natural surface, leads deeper into the preserve to the area of scrub, marsh, and a dense hammock of cabbage palms. The trail in this urban park is within sight of houses, but they don’t intrude into the natural surroundings.
