Founded in 1984, Plum Creek Cellars was among the Colorado pioneer wineries producing fine wines exclusively from grapes grown in Colorado. Plum Creek Winery produces limited quantities of wine, as they are dedicated to quality and not quantity. Plum Creek holds Colorado winery license No. 10, making it one of the oldest of the state’s wineries licenses. The winery has 55 acres of vineyards planted in the state’s premier fruit-growing areas – Palisade and Paonia – in the areas best suited for each variety. Grapes are harvested by hand at the optimum ripeness and maturity. Plum Creek currently has a capacity of over 70,300 gallons, with more than 340 American, French, and Hungarian oak barrels. Winemaking and bottling is done on the premises and the small, nicely decorated wine tasting room with antique furniture and Oriental rugs is attached to the winery. There is also a nice covered patio and picnic area for those warm summer days and evenings.
