Colorado Cellars Winery is Colorado’s oldest and largest winery and the winery with the most awards. Founded in 1978 and family-owned and operated, Colorado Cellars started its life as Colorado Mountain Vineyards and today includes Rocky Mountain Vineyards and the Orchard Mesa Wine Company. The winery makes wine from the grapes grown in their own vineyard. They also keep bees for honey wine and make and bottle all their wines by hand. They have a fermentation and storage capacity of more than 29,000 gallons and annually produce about 12,000 cases of more than 20 types of wines: port wines, fruit wines, meads, champagne, and varietal grape wines. They also produce dozens of wine-based food items. The original winery is located underground under a hill overlooking the Bookcliff Mountains.
