Review:

Explore the expansive grounds of a classic Californian vineyard and catch all action and work that goes into a fantastic bottle of wine at the Poppaea Vineyard . Founded in May 2009, the Poppaea Vineyard features 6.4 acres of land with 4 of those acres being used exclusively for Italian-style red grapes. Grapes being grown at Poppaea include two varietals from Barbera, Nebbiolo and Piedmonte, as well as two from Tuscany, Montepulciano and Sangiovese, and one Primativo. Visitors to this boutique winery can take a tour of vineyard to learn about the grape vines and their care, see the preparation area, a laboratory and even a temperature controlled ‘barrel’ room that is capable of producing about 1700 gallons of wine per year. That’s 8,500 bottles of wine in just 364 days! Of course, the highlight of every trip is the visit to the tasting room where passionate winemakers talk you through their different bottles as you sample each one.
