The 280-acre Schmeeckle Reserve is a nature conservation area located on the campus of the University of Wisconsin Stevens Point. Established to protect central Wisconsin’s natural communities, the nature reserve is open to the general public and acts as a rather unique university and local community gathering place. The Schmeeckle Reserve is made up of a wide diversity of habitats supporting many different species of wildlife, as well as a lake measuring approximately twenty-four acres and five miles of boardwalks and trails. The natural area also offers several outdoor recreation activities, such as photography, birding, wildlife watching, bicycling, and walking.
