The Archaeological Museum of Rhodes is dedicated to the rich archaeological history of the island and surrounding islands of the Dodecanese.
Housed in a monumental late-Gothic complex dating back to 1440 that was once the hospital of the Knights of Saint John, the museum features a vast collection of objects dating back to the Archaic, Roman, Mycenaean, and Hellenistic periods. In addition to ancient vases, sculptures, statues, and medieval tombs for knights in the museum, other signature pieces include a late-Hellenistic tomb monument with a lion devouring a bull is based in front of the western arcade and a magnificent Byzantine mosaic.
