Review:

Located about 2.5 hours from Berlin, Usedom Island is an excellent day-trip destination for beautiful beaches, great food and a small dose of history. The island has long been a summer bolt-hole for wealthy East Germans (and nudists) and you will see many extravagant holiday villas. Today the island is enjoying a resurgence of interest in spas and you can enjoy a pampering at one of several luxury establishments in Bansin, Ahlbeck and Heringsdorf. Cycling the 5-mile promenade which joins these three spa villages is a great way to enjoy the fresh air. If you would like to learn about the island’s part in the development of ballistic missiles you can visit the very intriguing Peenemunde Historical Technical Information Center.
