Muggelsee is the name by which East Germans know this beautiful body of water which West Germans call the Wannsee. When you need a break from the city Müggelsee is an ideal destination for a relaxing day trip. The beautiful 4.5km lake is the largest in Berlin and attracts large numbers of visitors who come to walk, hike and cycle or enjoy a wide variety of water sports in summer. There are three separate beach areas where you can swim and boat-rental stations can be found all around the perimeter of the lake – here you can rent canoes, kayaks, wind-surfers, paddleboats and much more. Pack a picnic and come and enjoy Müggelsee like a local.
