Review:

When you need a break from the history, culture and museums for which Berlin is famous, a day trip to Pfaueninsel (Peacock Island) is a welcome alternative. You can reach the island on the River Havel, using the S-Bahn and a ferry and spend a few hours surrounded by parklands, gardens and greenery. The main attraction on the island is the Pfaueninsel Palace or Peacock Palace which was once the Summer Palace of Frederich Wilhelm II, the King of Prussia. Please note that the palace is currently being renovated and is only expected to re-open to the public in 2024. However, the serene gardens and the birdlife are well worth a visit.
