Sitting right next to the magnificent Rhine River, Stein am Rhein boasts one of the best-preserved medieval villages in the country. The layout of the Old Town has remained unchanged for more than a century, and it's full of colorful half-timbered medieval homes that make for some truly pretty photos. The city also offers several interesting museums, and visitors can learn about how people lived during the mid-1800s at the Lindwurm Museum, admire the frescoes at the St George’s Abbey Museum, or visit the KrippenWelt nativity museum to see hundreds of nativity scenes depicting the birth of Jesus.
