The largest waterfall in Europe, the Rhine Falls are a truly breathtaking natural attraction conveniently located just outside the city of Schaffhausen. The best time to visit is between April and October when you can take a boat tour out to the rock in the middle of the falls, although the flow of water is at its peak in May and June. However, if you can't make it here before dark, don't worry. The falls are illuminated in the evenings throughout most of the year, and they're just as spectacular after dusk as they are in the day.
