Collins Garden Park is a grassy open public park that was originally founded in 1917 by Finis Foster Collins, a windmill and pump manufacturer supplying the region's growing 19th-century farmer and rancher populations.
The park was established on the site of Collins' 140-acre farm and estate, which was known as Collins Gardens, and became a popular community gathering spot due to its location along the city's streetcar route. Today, the park is home to day-use picnic sites and a number of tennis and basketball courts available for public use, along with large grassy green spaces for relaxation and community gathering. In 1984, the Collins Garden Branch Library was opened to the public along the park's eastern edge. In recent years, the park has been home to a community garden and food forest sponsored by the Green Spaces Alliance, which also hosts a weekly farmer's market at the facility.
