Allegro Vineyards and Winery is York County's largest winery, producing more than three dozen varietals of delicious dry and sweet wines each year. The winery, which is named for the musical term meaning "lively," was opened to the public in 1980 and strives to craft award-winning, high-quality wines each year. Wines range from traditional styles such as Cabernet, Chambourcin, Merlot, Riesling, and Viognier to excellent sparkling, sweet, and semi-sweet blends. Guests can taste wines at the company's intimate tasting room facility, which requires reservations for groups of more than six participants. A light menu of hors d'oeuvres is served to complement tastings, including cheeses, charcuteries, and crackers. Guests can also bring picnic lunches to enjoy outside on the winery's covered deck with purchased bottles or glasses of wine.
