Southaven County Park is a popular park located in Shirley, New York, with the Carmans River flowing through and pine oak forest providing shade in the hot summer months. Southaven is a popular destination for fishing, row boating, horseback riding and camping. The 1,323-acre Southaven County Park Campground can accommodate 104 tents and trailers, has showers and dump station and has a wonderful picnic areas that can accommodate up to 1,000 people. The park has trails for cross-country skiing in the winter. This park is known for the Long Island live steamers, which offer miniature train rides. Dogs are allowed but must be leashed.
