Tamworth Distilling takes pride in producing a fine range of craft spirits using the finest local ingredients to showcase all that New Hampshire has to offer. The distillery uses local house-milled grains, organic corn and rye and botanicals, fruits and vegetables grown in their own back yard and the woods that surround them. Their huge Kentucky-made copper still is fitted for distilling brandy, whisky and gin, and only the purest Tamworth water from the White Mountains is good enough to be used. Visitors are welcome to stop by for a tasting or a private cocktail lesson (booking required) before strolling down the road to their Art in the Age Café for a delicious meal.

2. The Barnstormers Theatre

For many visitors to Tamworth their vacation would be incomplete without following the traditions of their parents and grandparents who have made annual pilgrimages to attend the Barnstormers Theatre for the last 90 years. The Theatre has been delighting Tamworth residents and visitors each summer since 1931 and is one of the longest running professional theatre groups in the country. Due to the Covid 19 pandemic, the theatre had to cancel their 2020 summer season, but still continued the entertainment by offering their fans a virtual music revue, The Best of the Barnstormers, to celebrate their 90th anniversary. Be sure to catch their eagerly anticipated 2021 season.

3. Mount Chocorua

Mount Chocorua is the eastern-most peak in the Sandwich Ridge of the White Mountains. Although the mountain’s 1,100m elevation is not particularly note-worthy, Chocorua makes up for it by offering outstanding views from its summit and a network of 11 scenic trails for visitors to explore. A couple of the most popular trails include the 4.2 mile Piper Trail from the east and the Champney Falls trail from the north, which is known for its wonderful waterfalls. Your hiking efforts will be rewarded by amazing views once you reach the conical rocky summit which is believed to be one of the most-photographed mountains in the country.

4. Lake Chocorua

Tranquil Lake Chocorua lies at the foot of scenic Mount Chocorua, where its mirror-like surface often reflects the summit of the mountain. The lake is surrounded by forests and almost devoid of human development – a very special place to get back to nature. Recreational facilities at the lake include swimming beaches, canoe and kayak access and many hiking trails which lead up to Mount Chocorua. Fishing is very popular on Lake Chocorua and you could find a brook trout, small-mouth bass or yellow perch at the end of your line. There is no entrance fee and you can bring along a picnic and enjoy surrounded by tranquility.

5. Remick Country Doctor Museum and Farm

Two generations of Remick doctors tended to the needs of Tamworth residents for nearly 100 years, between 1894 and 1993. Today visitors are invited to come and gain a glimpse of their everyday lives at the Remick Country Doctor Museum and Farm. Visitors can tour the original homestead which is furnished with antiques and period pieces. There is a section dedicated to house-made medicines and you can see the doctor’s office and equipment. Outside on the farm children can have fun collecting eggs, feeding goats, milking cows and learning about where their food comes from. The museum hosts regular fun events and educational pods.
