Spanning 23,000 acres across reserved land near the town of Eagle Lake, in Maine’s Aroostook County, Eagle Lake Public Land is a reserve that includes most of Eagle Lake and abuts Square Lake.
Eagle Lake covers 5,581 acres with a maximum water depth of 136 feet and is one of the most remote bodies of water in the Fish River chain. Popular with fishermen and anglers, the lake is well stocked with brook trout, lake trout, landlocked salmon and rainbow smelt and provides excellent freshwater fishing year-round. Other activities in and around the lake include pleasure boating, canoeing, kayaking, swimming, picnicking, and camping.
