For a day of fun exploring in one of the most quaint and unusual villages in Florida, you need to make your way to the historic fishing village of Matlacha, which you will find on the Pine Island Road between Cape Coral and Pine Island, west of Fort Myers.

Not much has moved on in the last few centuries on Matlacha Island, where a small population of fishermen and artists maintain the atmosphere of an 1800’s fishing village. To learn about the village you can join a guided walking tour of the quaint and eccentric homes, bars, boutiques and art galleries. It is fun and quirky and nothing like any other village you are likely to find in Florida.
