Established in 1974, the Big Cypress National Preserve safeguards and showcases five distinct habitats, each of which is home to a variety of plants and animals, many of which are found nowhere else on earth. For day-trippers, the preserve offers an enormous outdoor playground where you can enjoy all your favorite activities including hiking, cycling, canoeing, kayaking, wildlife watching and even off-road vehicle trails.
Remote corners of this amazing swamp can be reached by air-boat or licensed off-road vehicles and you can look forward to coming face to face with alligators, crocodiles and turtles, among many other species of wildlife. Big Cypress is easy to access by road in less than an hour from Naples.
