The historic Koreshan State Park is a good day-trip destination from Naples, offering a combination of history and outdoor recreation. Here you will be able to learn about the Koreshans, a religious sect which established the Koreshan Unity Settlement on the banks of the Estero River in the current Fort Lauderdale region, back in 1893. You can tour the carefully-restored historic buildings before enjoying a day of recreation in a tranquil outdoor green space. Activities in the park include paddling, boating and fishing as well as picnicking, hiking, wildlife observation and geo-caching. Younger children can enjoy the children’s playground.
