Review & FAQ:
Buried 65 stories beneath the surface of the earth, the Strataca Kansas Underground Salt Museum is an enormous working salt mine with an on-site museum. Visitors can learn about the typical day in the life of a miner and the geology of the salt mine, but the highlight of the collection is a 250-million-year-old salt crystal that was found to contain an ancient living bacterium. If you're feeling brave, you can also venture into the mines yourself by taking the Dark Ride tram tour or hopping aboard the Salt Mine Express to explore a part of the mine that has remained untouched for decades.
