Buried 65 stories beneath the surface of the earth, the Strataca Kansas Underground Salt Museum is an enormous working salt mine with an on-site museum. Visitors can learn about the typical day in the life of a miner and the geology of the salt mine, but the highlight of the collection is a 250-million-year-old salt crystal that was found to contain an ancient living bacterium.
