Located on East 12th Avenue, The Cathedral of St. John the Evangelist is the Episcopal Diocesan cathedral of Spokane. In 1929 three churches merged to form the cathedral: All Saints Cathedral, St. James, and St. Peter’s. The current structure was completed in 1954: it stands 180 feet high (55 meters) and is made of cut sandstone.

There are many carvings and stained glass windows that add to the beauty of the cathedral. The cathedral organ consists of 4,039 pipes and was designed and built by the Aeolian-Skinner Company. There is also a 49 bell carillon in the Bishop Cross Tower.
