Firehouse Art Center is the public gallery facility of The Arts Studio, Inc., which has been served as one of Longmont's premiere arts organizations since 1986. Since 1987, the organization has showcased a variety of rotating art exhibits within the city's historic landmark downtown firehouse, presenting up to 12 annual solo and group exhibitions by artists working in a wide variety of traditional and contemporary art mediums. Exhibitions by local, regional, and national artists are showcased within the center's Main and South Galleries, which are open to the public during the afternoon hours Wednesdays through Sundays. A wide variety of public special events encourage the Longmont community to engage with artists and art forms, including the center's Firehouse Films series, poetry nights, and monthly Second Fridays art walk events. Other annual special events include a Catrina Ball in honor of the Mexican Día de los Muertos and a Canvas Carnival showcasing working artists, food vendors, craft beers, and family-friendly games.
