A visit to Cabrillo National Monument in San Diego’s Point Loma neighborhood should begin with a stop at the Visitor Center. Rangers and volunteers guide visitors in the best way to experience the area. There are also cool things to peruse from 16th-century navigational instruments to an Age of Exploration exhibit, and even some films. Touring the Old Point Loma Lighthouse is another must-do here, especially for kids. Point Loma tide pools and their inhabitants are wildly popular with locals, and should be explored with care. Families will also love the two-mile coastal hiking trail providing epic ocean and harbor views, perfect for photography buffs.
