Review:
Buona Forchetta is a classic Italian pizzeria and restaurant in San Diego's South Park neighborhood, helmed by Italian immigrant Matteo Cattaneo. The restaurant is best known for its use of the unique Sofia high-temperature oven, crafted by Stefano Ferrara and featured in Food and Wine magazine for its ability to withstand temperatures of up to 1,000 degrees Fahrenheit to ensure proper traditional crafting of Neapolitan-style pizza. Authentic Italian fare is served at lunch and dinner seven days a week, including antipasti and insalate options and craft flatbread pizzas prepared with and without sauce. All pizzas may be made gluten free for an upcharge. A selection of fine Italian wines are also available, along with draft and bottled local beer options, Italian cafe beverages, and traditional limonata and aranciata sodas.
