Like all North Carolina's Outer Banks beaches, Corolla Beach is a spectacular expanse of white sand that stretches for miles along the Atlantic coast.
It is the place where families with kids can spread their blankets and relax in the sun while the kids are playing ball, making sand castles, or splashing in the shallows.
Watch out for red flags; if they are out, no swimming is allowed. The beach is wonderfully unspoiled: There is no commercial development and the most exciting thing that happens on the beach is when the wild horses come along.
The kids can also enjoy looking for ghost crabs or flying a kite in the wind.
