The Intan is a unique private museum dedicated to showcasing the interesting history and culture of the Peranakan people (locally born descendants of the Chinese immigrants who came to Singapore in the 19th century). The museum is located in the home of one of these descendants, who has personally put together an amazing collection of Peranakan antiques and crafts, each of which tells a special story about the culture. You can choose from an Intan Tea Tour, which takes about an hour and includes tea and home-made refreshments, or an Intan Lunch/Dinner Tour, which lasts around 2 hours and includes a traditional Peranakan meal. Both tours are led by your host, who takes delight in sharing his amazing collection with visitors. All tours must be booked in advance.
