The second largest city in Bavaria, Nuremberg is a lively city rich in history and culture. The medieval Old Town has been carefully restored, and most of the city's biggest attractions can be found here, with highlights including the Nuremberg Castle and St. Lawrence's Church. There are also many different festivals held here throughout the year, including the annual Spring Fair and the two-week-long Old Town Festival held in the fall. However, the best time to visit is during the Christmas season, when you can snack on fresh gingerbread and browse endless stalls of handcrafted toys at the spectacular Christmas market.
